Reclassification proposal for Methylene Chloride open for public consultation until 17 November 2023

On 18 September 2023, ECHA published the harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) report of Italy for their reclassification proposal of Methylene Chloride/Dichloromethane (see the entry in the Registry of CLH intentions until outcome), which was expected after the publication of the Substance Evaluation (SEv) conclusion report in late August 2021 (see ECSA news here) and the announcement for an official CLH proposal on 20 March 2023. The reclassification proposal is open for public consultation until 17 November 2023.

ECSA members, acting via the Chlorinated Solvents REACH Consortium (ChlorSolv), are confident that the proposed classification is not justified in view of the plethora of high quality data, and will provide a comment to challenge the proposed classification.
