Machines & Suppliers
ECSA recommends the use of state of the art machines for the safe use of its solvents in dry- and metal cleaning.
Chlorinated Solvents should be used in closed systems to avoid workers over-exposure and minimise emissions to the environment. Machines should be regularly inspected and maintained to be kept in good conditions (to adhere to regulatory requirements). Closed machines reduce the quantity of virgin solvent need significantly, due to continued recycling.
The continued re-use of the solvent could lead to degradation and acidification. To maintain solvent quality and avoid corrosion within closed machines solvents should be regularly tested and restabilised accordingly. Further information can be received from your solvent supplier. Be aware of potential exposure occuring during solvent transfer and use dry-to-dry connections or vapour return lines wherever possible.
Chlorinated Solvents should be discharged and recharged following the procedures recommended by the solvent or machine suppliers which also includes the frequency of recharge and discharge of chlorinated solvents.
