Mobility
Chlorinated solvents are vital for helping us to be mobile and get safely to our destination:

Methylene chloride is used to make polycarbonates, which are useful materials for many products such as bicycle helmets, eye protection, helmet visors and riot gear to keep people safe on the road and out and about, as well as automotive parts such as lamps and wind and weather resistant covers.

Trichloroethylene is used in closed equipment to degrease many types of precision metal parts found in critical end uses such as jet airplane engines, aerospace parts, automotive parts, etc. This chlorinated solvent is also used in the production of lithium ion batteries (battery separators).

Perchloroethylene is used to formulate maskant coatings used to protect precision aerospace and automotive parts from damage after fabrication during transport to their final assembly location. This chlorinated solvent is also used to regenerate catalysts used in the production of high octane gasoline in oil refineries.
